Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build the software systems that enable automated testing, manufacturing, and real-time control of our flight hardware and spacecraft. You will work across disciplines—hardware, embedded, operations, production, and software—to design full-stack applications that automate and validate critical flight components and support test, integration, and ground control.

This is a high-impact, multidisciplinary role. You’ll own the development of internal tools used to test, operate, and monitor spacecraft—ranging from low-level hardware interfaces to web-based control panels for telemetry and command operations.

Role:

• Design and implement software systems that support automated testing of hardware components and spacecraft systems.

• Own UI and backend development for internal tools used in test infrastructure, manufacturing and spacecraft operations.

• Develop component- and system-level automated production infrastructure using Python and full-stack tools.

• Work closely with satellite operators and manufacturing technicians to build UI workflows that streamline mission operations, command execution, and telemetry visualization.

• Drive cross-functional collaboration on software architecture, technical design, and hardware/software test strategy.

• Contribute to recruiting and interviewing efforts as we scale the team.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience as a full-stack software engineer (excluding internships).

• Strong Proficiency with React JavaScript/TypeScript and Python

• Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks

• Experience working with relational/SQL databases (e.g. Postgres)

• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and backend services.

• Comfortable working in Linux, using shell tools, and managing source control with Git.

• Experience with SQL/relational databases (e.g., Postgres).

• Comfortable rapidly prototyping and fully developing user interface concepts with focus on overall user experience

• Comfortable diving into all layers to implement both front-end and back-end components of new features

• Experience deploying backend services to cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) and on-prem

Bonus:

• Experience developing tools for hardware or embedded systems.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployments.

• Familiarity with design systems and rapid UI prototyping for internal tooling.

• Background in satellite operations, aerospace, or real-time telemetry systems.

• Experience with test instrumentation, schematics, and debugging interfaces between software and hardware.

• Strong understanding of automated test strategies and validation workflows for embedded or hardware-integrated systems.

• Experience building and deploying sw for a manufacturing environment.

• Experience reading datasheets, debugging analog/digital interfaces, and working with tools like oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.

About the Company

Astranis is a pioneering space technology company that designs, manufactures, and operates advanced small satellites for high orbits, particularly geostationary orbit (GEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO). Unlike traditional satellite providers that focus on either small satellites for low Earth orbit or massive, costly satellites for high orbits, Astranis has developed a new class of compact, powerful, and radiation-hardened satellites. Their flagship product, MicroGEO, delivers dedicated satellite broadband and other mission-critical services, with over 10 satellites on contract and more than $1 billion in satellite services sold to commercial and government customers worldwide, including the U.S. Space Force, NASA, and major telecom providers.

Working at Astranis offers the opportunity to be part of a team that is solving some of the most challenging engineering problems in the space industry, such as building resilient satellites capable of withstanding the harsh radiation environment of high orbits. The company is headquartered at Historic Pier 70 in California, where it handles all aspects of satellite development in-house, from design and manufacturing to testing and operations. Employees at Astranis contribute to projects that have a global impact, enhancing communications, navigation, and security for both commercial and government clients, while being part of a mission-driven organization at the forefront of space innovation.
