Job Summary:

UNION is seeking a battle-ready Quality Engineer to develop and implement our manufacturing Quality Assurance efforts. This engineer will help develop, implement, and oversee Quality Assurance (QA) systems across our manufacturing processes. You’ll bring a strong understanding of metalworking processes, including forging, casting, machining, and painting, to ensure we meet defense-grade quality standards. Your experience in supporting the development of Quality Management Systems (QMS) will be pivotal, particularly for multi-stage processes operating around the clock.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster a culture of Quality across the organization, driven by data and continuous improvement

• Develop and implement QMS and Quality Control processes to support a QMS for defense-grade steel forgings, ensuring ISO 9001 compliance

• Conduct QMS and process audits and enforce standards to keep our products battle-ready

• Tackle defects head-on using Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, fishbone diagrams to crush defects and non-conformances

• Apply SPC and stats tools (Minitab, Excel) to keep processes tight

• Leverage metallurgy expertise to ensure steel meets defense specs

• Collaborate closely with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to design and validate precise, tightly controlled processes

• Drive Lean and Six Sigma to cut waste and reduce defects

• Support customer quality requests and issue resolution

• Maintain and ensure supplier quality standards, supporting supplier qualification and audits

• Oversee calibration program for critical measurement and test equipment

• Own the Material Review Board (MRB) process and defect investigations, leading cross-functional teams in problem solving efforts

• Mentor and support Quality Supervisors and Quality Technicians to maintain Quality Control standards

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quality Systems, Reliability Engineering, Applied Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science

• Experience: 3-5+ years in Quality Engineering / Quality Assurance in manufacturing environments supporting ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality system development and audits. Experience in defense/ ammo / aerospace / complex manufacturing - assembly experience is a plus.

• Technical Skills: High Proficiency in RCCA tools; SPC methods and software (Minitab), R-Shiny

• Leadership/Work Style: Hands-on, proactive, disciplined. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.

• Soft Skills: Sharp communicator, proactive problem-solver, coach / mentor to production Quality Inspectors and Quality Technicians

• Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, lift 50 lbs in a gritty shop with heat and noise

Preferred Qualifications:

• Defense standards knowledge (MIL-STD, ITAR)

• Metallurgy mastery for ferrous, non-ferrous, super alloys

• NDT experience (ultrasonic, dye penetrant)

• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ASQ CQE / CQT / CQA

Work Environment:

You’ll fight on the shop floor in Dallas, with occasional office time and potential travel for audits or customer ops. Expect a dynamic and high-impact environment where your contributions will directly affect the success of our mission.
