About the Role

Aerospace Engineer, Senior

Aerospace Engineer – Flight Controls & Simulation

Company Overview

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup, founded by two former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing a small, autonomous gun turret that employs advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely target and neutralize small drones and loitering munitions. Our innovative approach requires overcoming significant technical challenges, making this an exciting and dynamic environment for experienced engineers.

With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders' successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop will have a real-world impact.

Position Overview

Allen Control Systems is seeking a skilled Aerospace Engineer with strong experience in flight dynamics, controls, and simulation development. The ideal candidate will have a background in modeling and analyzing dynamic systems, designing control algorithms, and validating performance through simulation and test environments. This role will involve close collaboration with both software and hardware teams to ensure robust system performance and real-world reliability.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and maintain high-fidelity simulations for flight dynamics, controls, and guidance systems.

• Design, implement, and optimize algorithms for guidance, navigation, and control.

• Build and validate flight dynamics models to support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.

• Collaborate across disciplines to integrate aerospace models into real-time systems.

• Conduct system-level testing, debugging, and performance analysis of aerospace control systems.

• Document models, architectures, and results to support validation and future development.

What You'll Need:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional aerospace engineering experience, preferably in flight controls, dynamics, or simulation.

• Strong understanding of flight mechanics, control theory, and dynamic system modeling.

• Proficiency in Python and C++ for simulation, modeling, and algorithm development.

• Experience with HIL/SIL environments and aerospace simulation frameworks.

• Familiarity with control systems, robotics, or autonomous vehicle applications.

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

What We Offer

• Competitive salary

• ACS Equity Package

• Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance

• Paid Time Off
