Role Summary:

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our vehicle team. The ideal candidate is someone who has an insatiable curiosity for technology and engineering. In this role you will get to bring your creative ideas to life and see them through the entire cycle from conception to operation in the field. You will own the design and development of certain vehicle systems and platform integrations while also providing feedback on others. If you are hands-on, enjoy learning complex systems end-to-end, and want to be valued for your unique contribution to a small team in an interesting field then this is the position for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, design, and document mechanical systems and components for high-performance autonomous off-road ground vehicles

• Work closely with internal cross-functional teams and externally with end-users to iterate and improve platform designs

• Provide support and direction to other engineers and technicians for project completion

• Perform integration, testing, and troubleshooting on vehicle systems, occasionally in the field

• Support safety, quality, and process improvements

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Strong technical background: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of experience designing, integrating, and supporting complex mechanical and electromechanical systems

• 3D CAD Experience >10,000 hours desired – SolidWorks preferred

• Proficiency with 3D Printing and 3D Scanning preferred

• Understanding of control systems, communication protocols, and power electronics

• Proficiency with typical electronics lab equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes

• Proficiency with metal and woodworking tools; experience with machine shop tools and welding preferred

• Proficiency with electrical wiring, soldering, and cable/harness assembly preferred

• Grit: You excel in a small-team atmosphere, taking ownership of problems and working with your colleagues to solve problems across disciplines

• Field-test forward: You enjoy getting your hands dirty and going off the beaten path to see the results of your work

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
